What is happening

People in Yemen have lived through years of war, political division and economic collapse. Homes, hospitals, schools, roads and water systems have been damaged or left without the supplies needed to keep running.

Many families have been forced to leave their homes. Others have stayed but lost their work, savings or ability to afford food, medicine, fuel and transport.

Hospitals and clinics continue to work under enormous pressure. Some do not have enough medicine, electricity, equipment or trained staff. Preventable illnesses become more dangerous when treatment is too far away or too expensive.

Hunger and malnutrition remain a serious part of daily life, particularly for children, pregnant and nursing mothers, older people, disabled people and anyone already living with an illness.

Why aid matters

Aid is not an abstract idea. It can mean a family receiving flour for the month, a child being treated for malnutrition, a clinic receiving medicine or a village having access to clean water.

It can also help people hold on to some stability while everything around them is uncertain.

How you can help

There is no single correct way to help. A donation matters, but so does sharing a campaign, reading about Yemen, talking about it and refusing to let the crisis disappear from view.

1. Support a Yemeni-led organization that works directly with local communities.
2. Donate through an established relief organization with active work in Yemen.
3. Support a specific project after reading who runs it and where the money goes.
4. Share original donation pages when you are unable to donate.
5. Check the date before reposting statistics, articles or emergency appeals.
6. Remember that recovery takes years. Long-term support for health, water, food, education and local livelihoods is still needed.

Yemeni-led aid

Local organizations understand their communities in ways that large international groups often cannot. They know which neighborhoods are being overlooked, what families are asking for and how to work through local conditions.

Their funding may be smaller and their donation methods may change, so always read their newest updates before giving!

No organization can reach every part of Yemen. Access changes by region, and political borders often affect where aid can travel.

Humanitarian organizations

Larger organizations can support hospitals, water systems, nutrition programs and other work that requires more staff, supplies and coordination.

Aid groups are often limited by funding, road access, security and political restrictions. Delays do not mean the need has disappeared.

Donation campaigns

These are smaller campaigns connected to particular needs. They may close after reaching their goal or change as the project develops, so check the campaign page before donating or sharing.

• Check that the campaign is still active.
• Read the newest updates, not only the original description.
• Look at who organized it and who is delivering the aid.
• Check whether the location and intended use are explained.
• Look for the platform's trust and verification information.
• Share the original campaign link instead of a screenshot.
